The Niche Vehicle Network were pleased to attend this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and attracted a good deal of interest for our members who exhibited their cars there.
With companies such as Lotus and Morgan having a significant presence at the festival with their own stands, we chose to focus on some of the lesser-known and emerging British brands. This year, the theme was open top sports cars and we displayed five different rear-wheel drive, hand-built British-made cars, all currently available and built to order by specialist niche manufacturers.

Midlands-based company Gardner Douglas Sports Cars exhibited a beautiful carbon-fibre bodied GDT70 Spyder. This particular car, whilst it is road-legal, has been built for lightness to enhance its performance on track days. Powered by a blue-printed Chevrolet V8 engine producing 500bhp, the car can accelerate to 60mph in 3 seconds and has a top speed of 180mph.

Completing our line-up at the Festival were three front-engine rear wheel drive sports cars which again are all available as factory-assembled cars, built to customer specification. These were the Raw Pheonix, the Toniq CB and the GBS Zero. These open-top cars have all benefitted from recent aerodynamic development in the MIRA wind tunnel, as part of the Niche Vehicle Network programme of collaborative research and development.
