UK Ministry of Defence Hybrid Electric Drives Project

Following a £3m investment, the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) is delivering a Technology Demonstrator 6 (TD6) programme on behalf of the British Army, trialling Hybrid Electric Drives on 3 military vehicles. The programme has the objectives of investigating how these technologies could increase the operational capability of the vehicles, as well as reducing overall emissions, improving efficiency, and inform future procurements of vehicles.

To inform the ongoing TD6 programme and future tranches of work, the UK MOD is further interested in emerging and developing technologies such as:

· Integrated electrification subsystems and powertrains
· Fuel cells
· Battery chemistry and battery management systems
· Vehicle-to-Grid
· Traction motors

The UK MOD are now keen to engage with UK technology developers and suppliers across these areas, who have the capability in supporting both development and/or production ready hybridisation.

Companies are invited to engage with the TD6 team to showcase their products and technologies, outlining product status and technology and manufacturing readiness levels.
